The International Board of Directors (IBD) is the governing body of Mensa International (as an unincorporated association), and is officially the owners of the incorporated entity Mensa International Limited (MIL), a company registered in England. The IBD is composed of several at-large elected officers and national representatives from the different national Mensas, with number of seats per group being based on the group's membership size.

The Executive Committee (ExComm) is a smaller group composed of the elected officers and representatives of the biggest national Mensas, which is the official board of directors of the corporate entity. This currently includes Chairman Jim Werdell, Director of Development Willem Bouwens, Director of Administration Stacey Kirsch, Treasurer Godwin Zwanenburg, Director of Smaller National Mensas Tim Knights, Chairman of American Mensa Russ Bakke, and Chairman of British Mensa Chris Leek.

IBD meetings held over the past few years:

  • 2006 Orlando, USA - This included the Diamond (60th) anniversary gathering
  • 2005 Cambrils, Spain
  • 2004 Oslo, Norway
  • 2003 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • 2002 Zagreb, Croatia
  • 2001 Budapest, Hungary
  • 2000 Singapore
  • 1999 Cape Town, South Africa

Between meetings, the IBD discuss and vote on motions electronically. The IBD is supported by an Executive Director with secretarial and administrative help.
