The Corps d'Espirit, or hostess, or "Queen of Mensa", was a position that existed in the late 1940s during the early stages of the existence of Mensa (in England, before Mensa spread to other countries and British Mensa became a separate entity from Mensa International). Conceived by co-founder Roland Berrill, this position was the titular head of Mensa, but was a ceremonial position with no real political power. It was granted to the most attractive female that Berrill could convince to accept the post, and there was actually a throne for her at the meetings.
