The Mensa Education and Research Foundation, formerly referred to as MERF but now preferring to be known as "the Foundation", is a separately incorporated nonprofit organization set up by American Mensa to handle such things as scholarship funds, colloquiums, and research publication. Contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible in the United States. Various auctions and other fundraisers are regularly held to support the Foundation at American Mensa events.
