The 2017 Annual Gathering of American Mensa is to be held at the The Westin Diplomat, Hollywood, Florida (pending an acceptable hotel contract being reached), from July 5, 2017 through July 9, 2017. This was the first location to be chosen under new rules whereby the AG site is chosen nationally before a local committee is put together (instead of the local committee forming and making a proposal to be approved by the AMC as in the past).
Cookie Bakke (who was heavily involved with a number of past AGs) circulated an e-mail at the time this venue was under consideration proposing Savannah, Georgia instead, for a more member-focused gathering (as part of a spirit of disgruntlement at the direction AGs are headed in recent years), but the Florida site was still approved.
