The 2017 Annual Gathering of American Mensa (Hooray for Hollywood, Florida) was held at the The Westin Diplomat, Hollywood, Florida from July 5, 2017 through July 9, 2017. This was the first location to be chosen under new rules whereby the AG site is chosen nationally before a local committee is put together (instead of the local committee forming and making a proposal to be approved by the AMC as in the past). In 2015, Marc Lederman was appointed by the AMC as the chairman of this AG, remaining the official chair even after his 2016 death; Heather Poirier and LaRae Bakerink were subsequently appointed as co-vice-chairs.

Cookie Bakke (who was heavily involved with a number of past AGs) circulated an e-mail at the time this venue was under consideration proposing Savannah, Georgia instead, for a more member-focused gathering (as an attempt to change the direction AGs have been headed in recent years), but the Florida site was still approved.

The program book this time lacked a complete program listing, with attendees directed instead to the app, website, and printed program grids made available at the event.

The venue was a beachfront resort.

Registration and hotel fees

Registration for the 2017 AG was $209 for members and $249 for others by 8/31/2016, $224 for members and $264 for others by 2/15/2017, $239 for members and $279 for others by 6/15/2017, and $259 for members and $299 for others on-site. The per-day rate was $99. Young Mensans were free up to age 3, $99 for ages 4 to 12, $174 for ages 13 to 20, or $99 per day.
