Due to its linear shape it claims to be the region made up from all the leftover bits no-one else wanted. Until recently it included areas within the M25 motorway in North London.

Empress

The regional newsletter takes its name from a contraction of "East Midlands press" and is edited in turn by Rosie Jefferson and Nick Stimpson. Empress traditionally employs a rota of three editors each doing a stint of a few months, in an attempt to keep the editors fresh, keep a fresh style to the newsletter, and provide backup in case a volunteer editor drops out.

Regional Gatherings

In February 2008 a regional forum takes place in Leicester, combined with a day of events themed "A Taste of India".

May 2008 sees the main Regional Gathering in the new city of Milton Keynes, organised by Locsec Jo Sidebottom.
