The 1976 Annual Gathering of American Mensa, Paths of Communication, was held in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania at the Sheraton-Valley Forge Hotel. It lasted from June 25th through June 27th. There were 600 attendees. Robert B. Enters was the AG chairman.

The title, "Paths of Communication", was another mission-statement-ish one.

While attendance growth continued, and this was the largest-attended one so far, the size had still not grown to the extent that it outstripped the ability of smaller towns like Valley Forge to host it.

[The AG itself was great, and Delaware Valley Mensa did a terrific job. There was a real party atmosphere, with people hanging out in the halls and stairwells after the regular programs ended. Lots of fun for my first AG. Unfortunately, the hotel really messed up. It scheduled a second convention for the same dates (a Baptist group, as I recall) and seriously overbooked. I was lucky, and got my room OK. Many other Mensans, with confirmed reservations in hand, were turned away. Although they were rebooked into another hotel about half a mile away, the promised shuttle bus only ran occasionally and late-night service was not provided. It soured me on Sheratons for many years thereafter, but not on annual gatherings. --Dave Cahn]
