The Times Tournament of the Mind was an annual competition appearing in The Times newspaper (1988-1990) and in the Times educational supplements (TES & THES) in 1991.

The competition was the brainchild of former British Mensa Chief Executive, Harold Gale, and helped to boost membership of British Mensa in the late eighties and early nineties. At the award ceremony in 1988, Charles Wilson, editor of The Times, claimed that the competition was also responsible for boosting sales of 'The Times' by 10%.

The winner of the individual competition was awarded the title 'The Times Mind of the Year'; there was a separate competition for 'school teams' of up to ten pupils in each team.
