The American Mensa Hearings Committee has as its job the conducting and judging of national hearings against members accused of "acts inimical to Mensa". Under the bylaws, the committee is composed of past chairmen of American Mensa, though some other past officers are in the line of succession should the immediate past chairmen resign from the position or recuse themselves from a particular case. Two different proposals to reform the committee by selecting its members differently both failed in 2009.
