The 1974 Annual Gathering of American Mensa, Intelligence—To Make a Difference, was held in Chicago, Illinois at Playboy Towers Hotel. It lasted from June 29th through July 1st. There were 450 attendees. Charley Fallon and Helen Kupper were the AG chairmen.

This is the only time that Chicago has hosted an AG, although this city is frequently cited as a desired location for attendees due to its central location, large airport, and abundance of suitable hotels; the local Chicago Area Mensa group is not interested in hosting one because it prefers to run its highly popular HalloweeM RG.

AG titles in the '60s sounded like academic colloquia; this one, "Intelligence—To Make a Difference", sounded like a corporate mission statement. In a few more years, they'd switch to the modern mode of more "recreational"-sounding names.
