Art Mattson is a long-time member of Orange County Mensa. He was its first President and served as President twice more. He chaired the first bylaws committee for the group. He served on the American Mensa Committee for six years, four as Treasurer. He served as an American Rep on Mensa's International Board for three years, and one year as International Treasurer.

He chaired Mensa's Annual Gathering in Anaheim, CA, in 1990. He also chaired two Regional Gatherings.

He is the recipient of local and national Distinguished Service Awards.
