The '''1986 [[Annual Gathering of American Mensa]]''', '''Celebration 86''', was held in [[wikipedia:New York City|New York, New York]] at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. [[Constance Atman]], [[Helen Mosley]], [[Rosemary Dowling]], and [[Marlene Zimmerman]] were the AG chairmen. Attendance was about 1800, which made it the highest-attended AG so far.

Hospitality gained the reputation of having the least food at any AG in memory, being dubbed the "[[wikipedia:Karen Carpenter|Karen Carpenter]] Memorial AG" by some attendees. Just as the [[1990 Annual Gathering of American Mensa|1990 Orange County AG]] set the standard for copious cuisine, this one is the point of comparison for AGs of meager eating.
